Beryl

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sheshkinnarone, Dunglow, County Donegal, Irish Republic (Eire)
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
2.5 × 2 × 2 cm
Description

Sharp, hexagonal beryl crystals in parallel growth with a little attached quartz matrix. This is a very good specimen of beryl from the best locality in Ireland for the species with the larger crystal 2.0 cm across (very good for the locality). I travelled some distance to collect at the site a few years ago and after considerable time searching only found two reasonable specimens, neither of which came close to the one on offer here. Most of the material to be found was broken single crystals. Very hard to acquire material and rarely offered for sale.
