Fluorite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rogerley Mine, Frosterley, Weardale, County Durham, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
12 × 8 × 4.5 cm
Description

Reflective, un-twinned blue/green cubic fluorite crystals on limestone matrix from the famous Rogerley mine. This specimen has sharp cubes up to 1.0 cm on an edge and good blue fluorescence under long-wave U.V. This mine has reopened for collection and specimens of this size and quality are currently on offer for substantial sums of money. I was fortunate to come across this example recently so here is a good chance to get a classic specimen at a reasonable price.
