Analcime

(radiating)

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Little Deerpark Quarry, Glenarm, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10 × 8 × 3.5 cm
Description

Radiating analcime is a rare occurrence. When observed in good light these radial crystals from Little Deer Park refract to give the colours of the rainbow along their length (see images). This specimen has a collection of small vugs some showing the radial pattern and some excellent terminations. I am not aware of any other zeolite that exhibits this optical effect. Serious zeolite collectors should check out the extremely rare Barrerite specimen in my listings.
