Description

Continuing with specimens from my recent 'best ever' find. I have been collecting at the type locality for Gmelinite for more than 20 yrs and, although I have found nice material I never exposed any of the special specimens that I knew to exist there (i.e. like a couple Harry Foy showed me). Recently my luck changed and as a result over the past few weeks I have been offering some of these along with a couple from my own collection that have been ousted by superior specimens from this new find. This gmelinite specimen has sharp, well formed crystals up to 1.0 cm across which is quite large for the type locality. Rather than resting on a bed of analcime crystals which is normal for the type locality this specimen has a light sprinkling of analcime on top.. A very good example from the locality. Serious zeolite collectors should check also out the specimen of extremely rare Barrerite in my listings.
