Description

Chamachu Pakistan is most well known for producing typical schorl and spessartine garnets. Colorful elbaites from this locality are much less common, let alone those that are relatively aethetic.  This specimen consists mainly of two perfectly terminated polychrome elbaites spaced apart by a uniquely "pseudocubic" quartz crystal and some other associated pegmatite minerals (cleavelandite).  The larger tourmaline crystal is characterized by a flat basal termination with a pale lilac coloration, a green stripe, and then pink base with matte luster. The smaller tourmaline is primarily pink and blue with a pyramidal termination and better luster.  The quartz is bright white with a matte luster, but the most unusual part is that is appears to cubic, of course this is a function of the space it had to form, but presents an oddity nonetheless.  Overall the specimen is in great condition with only flea bites to any of the major crystals, albeit there are a few broken tiny accessory crystals (these could more than likely be removed if the specimen were further cleaned).
