Description

Here we have an impressive large pegmatite matrix specimen trimmed and prepped from a large piece of pocket wall mined at the Oceanview Mine in the prolific (and famous) 49'er pocket which was struck on mine owner Jeff Swanger's 49th birthday.  The specimen consists of a fist sized bicolor beryl (aquamarine and morganite) perched between several partial and complete smoky quartz crystals and cleavelandite.  The pocket wall piece this specimen was prepped from can be seen in image #5 (orginally 65 kilos!).  I commissioned Tim Dorris of the hit Weather Channel mining show "Prospectors" and miner of the famous Smoky Hawk Claim (Smoky Quartz and Amazonite) to do the prep work which took over two years to complete and looks great! The beryl did have some minor damage in situ and thus had a small restoration to improve its aesthetics. Overall a great museum sized specimen. Expected damage around the edges but considering the size and visual impact overall the condition is great.

Considering the weight and potential value this specimen will be shipped only by courier service with insurance (Fedex, UPS, DHL at buyers preference).
