Description

A typical Gadolinite- (Y) sample from the the type locality, the famous Ytterby quarry. The xenomorph crystals are embedded in feldspar and in contact to biotite. The quarry was active from the 17th century and most of the rare earth elements were discovered in gadolinite from Ytterby. It is prohibited to collect at this historical site by Swedish law since middle of the 1970s.

Comes with a handwritten late 19th century label.
