Massive/Crystalline
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)

Description

Mohawkite is a mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper. Mohawkite is rare as it has only been found in two mines in the Keweenaw Country. The Mohawk Mine, where this historic example is from, is the Type Locality. Massive large specimens are hard to find because the rich ore was smelted or as seen generally today, it is polished as a lapidary object to bring out the rich golden-coppery color. This specimen weighs XXXX grams and comes with a handwritten early 20th century label from famous dealer W. Maucher, Munich.
