Description

During the 1970s and the early 1980s, at the heydays of their production, the Peruvian mines yielded excelent galena specimens mostly in combination with other sulfides.

Nowadays, good galena from peru has become quite scarce. This sample exhibits grey submetallic lustrous galena cubes with octahedron modifications accompanied by a larger deep brown sphalerite crystal and some tetrahedrons of fahlore, probably tennantite and a few highly lustrous striated and modified pyrite pentagondodecahedrons which are quite diagnostic for Huanzala.

The specimen is in good condition, one of the larger crystals has a contact where it was obviously grown against the other side of the vug. A very nice addition for every display and out of my personal collection. 694 g.
