Description

Old and interesting classic specimen: from the biggest manganese deposit in France, composed of two veins in a granite and several stratiform deposits in Triassic/Liassic sediments, comes this sample of romanechite intergrown with fibrous arseniosiderite. Discovered in 1750, this mine and the type locality for both species was operated under the village. The last mining period started in 1920 and closed in 1957. The collector who wrote the old label old is unknown, but the specimen may have been handled later by Louis Vésignié: a (typical) inventory number (2052P) was added later to the label.
