Description

Nice classic from Germany: THIS is the classic locality for groutite (and kutnohorite) in Germany: The iron ore mine of Bülten-Adenstedt yielded outstanding specimens of manganese and iron minerals as well as beautiful amethyst samples and more during the mining period which ended in 1976 (Emilie shaft). This specimen is most probably from the 1960s, it features submetallic lustrous jet-black groutite crystals in a vug of a goethite boulder (which is typical for the ore type in the Peine-Ilsede ore district) that has been broken up in two halves. Size is for the longer half, weight is total.
