Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States of America

Description

US old time classic: purplish grains of kämmererite on/in matrix from Pennsylvania. The collector who wrote the label is not known at the moment. The label mentions the name Huth, which may be the mathematician, theologist and nature researcher Johann Gottfried Sigismund Huth (1763-1818) who was known to have had an extensive mineral collection that was dispersed after his death. It is possible that the specimen belonged to his collection earlier. The specimen itself may come from the chromite district of Lancaster County, PA.
