Description

A rare old timer from Romania: dated 1887 this specimen comes from the stock of the bohemian mineralogist Karl Vrba (1845-1922). The label describes the specimen as platy golden yellow wulfenite on hemimorphite from Rezbanya, Hungary (the "Hungary" addition was added later replacing the former description). Rezbanya is the old name for Baita Bihor. The specimen itself is not very spectacular featuring intense yellow blades of wulfenite (mostly broken) an a lawn of greenish grey to whiteish hemimorphite crystals an earthy matrix. First of the kind i ever handled from that locality.
