Description

The iron hat/gossan outcrop of the pyrite-pyrrhotite deposit of the Bayerland mine has been famous for irridescent goethite specimens which could be called "turgite". This is a nice and colourful example of these specimens found during the active mining period which lasted until 1971. The outcrop is today protected as a nature monument.
