Description

Nice example of blue to purple halite in a cleavage crystal from the Merkers Mine. Blue halite is the result of exposure to natural radiation which produces Na atoms in the crystal lattice, which subsequently migrate to form colloidal-sized aggregates of sodium metal causing the blue colour.
