Description

A russian 19th century old timer from Krantz labeled as pseudomalachite from "Ronainask, Siberia" or similar. Siberia is not doubted but i found no locality that is spelled even farly fetched similar to Ronainask. Many late 19th century copper mineral specimens were labeled Siberia only (e.g. from R. Damon), a lot of them came from the Middle Urals (Nizhni Tagil, Turginsk),others from the Zmeinogorsk area. I would assign this one to the Urals according to its appearance but this is only an educated guess. The specimen itself seems to comprise several mostly botryoidal copper minerals as chrysocolla, malachite and pseudomalachite, i did not analyse the specimen. Nice old russian, increasingly rare.
