Description

Bohemian old timer: a specimen with calcite crystals on hematite bearing siderite labeled to be from the Steinwand Mine in Andre(a)sberg. This most probably refers to the abandoned village of Ondrejov u Kaplice near Ceský Krumlov in Bohemia. I could not find any information about the mine, but the Steinwand Mountain exists between Ondrejov and Jablonec (Ogfolderhaid). At the latter a lime kiln is known to have existed. Both villages were abandoned and the area was turned into a military training area in 1950. The Ceský Krumlov area has a long mining tradition.
