Description

A cabinet size specimen consisting of haematite var kidney ore with a dull and in part velvety surface. A William Peters specimen from around 1876 to 1886, purchased by Krantz in 1904 when he visited Redruth. The specimen is most probably from the Furness area as it came with 2 Stank mine calcite specimens. At the time of the finding Furness was situated in Lancashire, today (since 1974) the Furness region belongs to Cumbria.
