Description

A rare specimen. Labeled Balia Karaidin (which was the name of a mining company working at the deposits of Balia and Karaidin: Societe Anonyme Ottomane des Mines de Balia-Karaidin), the orpiment specimen most probably comes from the Balia (Balya) ore deposit, which is of historic importance and has been worked since Phoenician times.

The deposit is of sulfidic vein / lens type in andesitic rocks. With pen and ink Krantz label. Note: at first glance I thought it was an Allchar specimen. So there is no 100 % guarantee that the origin is labeled correctly by Krantz.
