Diepenlinchen Mine, Mausbach, Stolberg, Cologne, North Rhine - Westphalia, Germany
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
12.5 × 10.5 × 3 cm
Description

A rare and very interesting classic specimen from the long time abandoned Diepenlinchen mine near Aachen - part of the famous carbonate hosted Pb-Zn district of Aachen-Stolberg-La calamine: whitish crystals of calcite settle on a thin "shell" of banded sphalerite var. schalenblende.

The specimen is definitely from the active mining period and therefore must be pre 1918. From an old german collection, with label. Very good for the locality.
