Description

Banded sphalerite var. schalenblende covered by dark brown sphalerite mini-crystals and brass-yellowish marcasite crystals. A typical specimen for the devonian/carboniferous MVT-like lead-zinc deposits of the Eastern Belgium/Aachen-Stolberg district. The mineralization is of epigenetic vein type in carbonate host rocks. The find was in 2007 and the locality (Cimetière quarry) is closed for collectors now. Quite representative and meanwhile rare specimen.
