Description

A nice classic specimen from the long time abandoned Venus mine near Obererl: Intense green pseudomalachite (single crystals and aggregates) covered by a thin chalcedony layer and accompanied by botryoidal chalcedony on quartz matrix. Pseudomalachite has some older German synonyms (prasin, phosphorochalcit, ehlit). The name ehlite originates from this occurrence near the small township of OberERL (not far from Rheinbreitbach), which was formerly called EHL.
