Description

A nice specimen and rare to see on the market: a nodule of altered andesite hosts acicular sprays of pistache green epidote crystals in a vug. According to Alfredo Petrov these nodules are popularly known as "yakimochi" stones, after a traditional Japanese grilled rice cake they externally resemble (thanks Alfredo for your Japanese minerals site!). The label lists Buseki as locality but this is a misunderstanding. Buseki stands AFAIK for hydrated pyrite (e.g. goethite etc.) - but the japanese mineral specialists could help me out here.
