Description

This is a rare example of smithsonite from Iran as polished slab (translucent). I noticed this kind of specimens first in the late 1980s at the Aachen University where our preparator polished some samples from there. They occurred in varying colours - the nicest ones were sea green with whitish banding.

More common were grey examples and the greyish brownish as this sample represents.
