Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.5 × 6.5 × 4.5 cm
Description

Stibnite is not a really common mineral in Germany with respect to quality specimens. Although some localities yielded notable material (Goldkronach, Wolfsberg, Greiz etc.) german stibnite specimens are not often seen on the market. The Casparizeche (Caspari mine) near Uentrop in the Sauerland, an ancient antimony mine worked from 1825 to 1885, belonged to the more prolific occurrences and from time to time specimens are offered. The mine is inaccessible but some dumps remain which yielded example finds from time to time. This is a rich and nice example of in part lustrous but mostly dullish radial to parallel aggregated stibnite crystals (without terminations) on/in a matrix of altered paleozoic black shale. Found in 1988 on the dumps.
