Description

Real classic specimen from Poland: an indistinct brownish garnet crystal from the Dom-Insel at Breslau (Wroclaw) which was found in 1896. According to the literature these garnets were found in about 2 m depth on the dome island of Wroclaw during excavations for a building construction. Allegedly thousands of crystals were loosely found in diluvial sediments. First time i see these, seems to be really rare nowadays desptite their abundance during their find. Looks like andradite/hessonite and is described as hessonite in the literature. Not a beauty but a real european classic coming with nice hand written label.
