Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Arendal, Agder, Norway
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.6 × 4 × 2.5 cm
Description

Botryolite is a seemingly rare variety of datolite which was first described by Hausmann (1808) from the Kjenlie mine near Arendal in Norway. This specimen exhibits brownish botryoidal datolite var botryolite from Arendal, most probably from said mine. Some glassy white crystals of calcite (?) on the botryolite. Comes with attached label and also attached Charles Ottley Groom-Napier label (from the mid 1800s). The M&M labels are quite rare and this is - though not a beauty - an important locality specimen with pedigree.
