Description

This is meanwhile a rare specimen and comes from an older collection from decades ago: the now abandoned quarry on Urenkopf mountain, located about 2.5 km SE of Haslach and formerly owned by 'Hartsteinwerke Vulkan' in Haslach is now used as a waste fill site, collecting is not possible anymore. The specimen exhibits white sprays of fibrous pectolite in matrix and is a Black Forest classic. The Urenkopf became notorious because the Nazis installed a concentration camp which was established for underground relocation of production of several arms factories in bombproof tunnels at the quarry site. A memorial today.
