Almandine

ex Dr. Krantz (GER) - no old label

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
United States of America
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5 × 2.3 × 2.8 cm
Description

This is a very nice late 1800s specimen from the United States. Dark well developed almandine crystals settle on a feldspar matrix. The specimen comes from a US suite at Krantz, Bonn. It was accompanied by some other specimens from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Unfortunately there was no label with this specimen. The time and habit MAY hint to the Russell Garnet Mine, Massachusetts. But there are many other possibilities of course - a very nice oldie nevertheless.
