Description

Old timer from the 19th century with 2 labels: The older 1839 label is from Isaac Walker, stating polyhydrite as a variety of thraulite. Thraulit is a german synonym of hisingerite, a not so common silicate. Polyhydrite is described as an amorphous(?) aluminosilicate of Fe and minor Mn which was first reported from the St Cristoph Mine in Breitenbrunn, Erzgebirge, Germany. Its IMA status is questionable/doubtful. The specimen consist of a resin-lustrous brown mass on matrix and has a Krantz label attached. A very interesting specimen wrt its pedigree.
