Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Käfersteige Mine, Würm, Karlsruhe Region, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
6 × 7.5 × 3.5 cm
Description

Rare stuff: Crystallized fluorite from the Kaefersteige fluorite mine was extremely rare during the active mining period although the vein was up to 10 m thick.

The mine closed in the late 1980s. At present there are preparations for a reactivation due to the increasing world market prices for fluorite.

This specimen consists of intergrown fluorite cubes with a blueish-greenish-greyish colour, partly stepped faces and accompanied by quartz and limonite.

It was found in the late 1970s and has been in my collection since 1985. One of the rare german fluorites.
