Allargentum & Löllingite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Shaft 371, Schlema-Hartenstein, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.7 × 4.5 × 2.6 cm
Description

1980s specimen with partly crystallized masses of allargentum showing the typical habit for this locality - though the crystals are not very distinct and the most faces are casts of the formerly surrounding carbonate - accompanied by silvery shining small sparkling loellingite (as identified by the collector, maybe safflorite?). Some etched carbonate (labaled dolomite) present. The allargentum was probably etched out carefully.
