Description

This is an extraordinary one: Willemite (proven by XRD) pseudomorphs after ?. There are some literature references that it is after cerussite. The habit would indicate this because the typical "trees" and threelings may be recognized. At mindat.org there is an entry from John Betts that this type of material is descloizite after cerussite, but the XRD analysis of another (identic in habit) piece from this lot is clear. The mindat reference also says that there is fluorescence under UV .. typical for Willemite too.

So this is a kind of controversal specimen. There might be some other minerals present as wulfenite, plattnerite a.s.o. but these weren´t tested.

Very interesting specimen and a hard to get one of course (and the last I have in this quality).
