Description

Very interesting old timer from the 19th century: labeled by an unknown collector to be "cubic quartz with iron ochre" with an addendum by Krantz "Haematite psm pyrite" (both translated from german for convenience) this is in my opinion a pseudomorph of quartz after a cubic mineral (pyrite or fluorite come to mind) with a coating of haematite. On the side of the specimen where the reddish crust on the cubic crystals is missing one can see the cream whiteish interior of the cubes. Interesting and quite rare with this pedigree.
