Description

This is the rare copper sulphate, antlerite from the oxidized zone of the Dutchess Mine near Mt Isa in Queensland, Australia..

The most striking feature of specimens from this locality is their most unusual almost electric green colouring, a bit like malachite in appearance but the shade of brilliant green is most distinctive.

This specimen is unusually massive for the species and displays the characteristic reniform habit.

This small specimen is one of few remaining from a small parcel of antlerite, several specimens of which were tested by XRF and which returned a positive result for antlerite.
