Description

This large crystal of danburite shows all the desirable characteristics of the species.

It is elongate and chisel-shaped with strong longitudinal striations, a clear, glassy, well defined termination.

As well as the above desirable and sought after features, one face is liberally sprinkled with golden yellow crystals of pyrite and chalcopyrite. These sulphide crystals are often twinned and possibly occasionally pseudomorphed. There is also a sprinkling of silvery sulphide crystals: probably tetrahedrite and arsenopyrite.

The specimen is from the Charcas precious metal mine, San Luis, Potosi, Mexico.
