Conichalcite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Lorena Mine, Cloncurry Shire, Queensland, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
3 × 5.3 × 5 cm
Description

Uncommon green copper, calcium arsenate conichalcite occurs distributed throughout this sample from the oxidized zone of the Lorena Deposit near Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia.

Of particular interest is the botryoidal encrustation lining the interior of the vug in the brecciated silicious and ferruginous matrix.

The conichalcite also occurs distributed in partings throughout the fractured quartz and ferruginite providing a brilliant green contrast to the white quartz and red ferruginite.

A fine example that would grace any systemic, species, reference or locality collection.
