Description

Getchellite is a rare arsenic-antimony sulphide, the type locality is Getchell Mine in Nevada - in general Getchellite is very rare, but from Kyrgyzstan more than from any other locality. And it is superb; usually Getchellite occurs as a red powdery layer, but what we have here are large well shaped (for the mineral) crystals. Funny side-note Russian scientists planned to name it „Khaidarkanite“ - when the newly-discovered getchellite from the Getchell Mine in Nevada was published just before they got to it. The mineral is very hard to obtain, more or less impossible to buy on the common market - and if, prices are crazy. This is not just a sample - the crystals are exceptional, there is even contrast and a nice assemble. The color is blood-red and the crystals are lustrous. The upper area with Getchellite is around 20 mm across, but there is also second larger area at the lower right hand side, which is not less attractive.
