Epidote

Floater

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Seekar, Seebach Lake, Zell am See District, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.6 × 2.1 × 0.6 cm
Description

"Most collectors know only Knappenwand as locality for Epidote. In fact the specimens from Seekar are much more rare! All Epidote show pleochroism. That means that they change their color from red-brown to green depending at the angle the light goes through the crystal. I tried to choose and angle for photography that shows amount of both colors, but of course this effect is much better visible in person.

The specimen is developed as floater, the faces show fine luster and the specimen is undamaged."
