Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10.9 × 9.2 × 4.8 cm
Description

Pyrites from Oberdorf Magnesite deposit came only from a small area - the Revier Wieser. And yes - this is the famous Strontianite locality. What most people don´t know: Pyrite is more rare from the locality than Strontianite. Since an accident with Strahlers (one died inside the deposit), field collecting is prohibited so there is no new material since over 2 decades. The matrix of all Pyrites is Talc, so most times there are only single crystals. Matrix pieces are not very common! The particular specimen shows one isolated crystal (up to 44mm) across, set exposed on white Talc. The crystal consists of uncountable tiny steps; all of them sharp terminated and all tiny faces are lustrous. No significant damages to report
