Crystals on Matrix

Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)

Description

This is a pseudomorph of ernstite after childrenite. Ernstite is a rare hydrated phosphate found in oxidized granitic pegmatites and is related to eosphorite. The mineral was only discovered in Brazil and Australia, less than 5 localities world-wide produce this material! And this is the most relevant specimen I ever seen - an isolated, free-standing, well shaped crystal in the center of snowy white matrix. Undamaged, sharp and complete all around.
