Description

Most collectors know material fromWeisseck - from the famous Summit Cleft. This one is from a completely different locality. When you read the locality „Weisseck“ you may think it is one locality - but just to give you an idea: It is a huge area - you can go there via three different valleys and only to cross one slope to get from North to South needs a walk of 6 hours. The localitie that most of you  already know are Summit Cleft (at an altitude of 2650m - around 50 meters below peak elevation) and Ice-cleft in the North slope also only a few meters below peak elevation, but in the North slope. Lake Rieding is around 600 meters of altitude below these 2 localities and in the West slope of the mountain. And it is an old discovery - most specimen were found in the late 70ties and early 80ties. Today the area is a nature-park, field collecting is impossible; prohibited.

Typical specimen from Lake Rieding are sharp pale green cubes (completely different to Summit Cleft - stepped crystals, dark violet). And most of them are clusters of inter-rgown crystals up to 2cm. So this specimen is absolutely amazing - the main crystal is 39mm - so the doubled size of common material and even the largest crystal ever discovered there is only 48mm (and ever discovered means 400 years in case of Weisseck). Further the intensity and darkness of the crystals is out-standing - not just pale green, not light - strong vivid color with tones of green and blue green and under daylight you will discover even some lavender zonings inside the crystals. And the crystals are not just a cluster - the main crystals are exposed at the top of the piece and on matrix - both indicators are exceptional. I am for sure not an expert for everything - but I have years of experience with this locality and I can even tell you each single find and know each relevant discovery, each relevant collection and I can ensure that I don´t know even 5 pieces on this level. An out-standing piece for the area!
