Description

First I have to give you a few informations about the locality - you cannot compare these Tourmalines from Morocco with material from Brazil California neither with Afghanistan, Pakistan etc - all these localities are well known for Tourmaline and produced remarkable quantity. Morocco; Beni Bouzra has more the status of Elba-Tourmalines. Good crystals are not larger than 2 or 3 cm, the quantity is very low and you have to imagine that Morocco is not terra incognita - it has centuries of mining history and this was the first relevant discovery of Tourmaline ever done. So not compare-able with other Tourmaline localities, not compare-able with other Morroco-minerals, which usually come in tons. These Tourmalines are for sure among the most rare Tourms world-wide, so I would really only compare with material from Elba. Now more about the particular piece: The main crystal is sharp terminated with modified pyramidal end-points. With only minor backlight it seems to glow - the red color is truely amazing, with some yeelow zoning down to the base. The end-points show a thin, sharp black zoning - undamaged and not repaired and perched on snowy white matrix.
