Description

Withamit is named in honor to the disocver; Witham - he discovered the mineral in 1825 at Glen Coe, Scottland. Withamit is an out-standing rare variety of Epidote - it is magan-bearing, which cause the intense red color. Even more rare and exceptional is this material from Alps - the particular specimen wa discovered on 3rd of August in 1988. The main crystals are up to 3cm, sharp terminated and lustrous - they all show intense red color. I collect Austrian minerals since over 4 decades - this is the first specimen of Withamit I ever saw in person. Really an out-standing rarity; and the only one I have.
