Rock Crystal & Rutile

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Alchuri, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.4 × 4.7 × 2.6 cm
Description

The various Alpine-type clefts at Alchuri have produced some magnificent mineral specimens over the last 15 years or so. Most people are probably familiar with Epidote/Clinozoisite and Titanite specimens from this locality, but it has produced some interesting "Alpine"-type Rutile specimens here and there. The particular piece consists of hoghly lustrous, sharpterminated, water-clear rock crystals with several exposed, well developed sharp, end-pointed rutile crystals - a very aesthetic arrangement, even developed as floater.
