Fluorite & Baryte

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Wölsendorf, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.1 × 6.7 × 4.2 cm
Description

When I saw this specimen first I thought of Illinois - but no, it is from this famous classic locality in Germany. The fluorite is completely etched and set on a aggregate of massive baryte crystals (they show a touch of reddish color - most likely caused by hematite). This color, the etched crystals and the combination of fluorite and baryte makes this specimen very unique and special for Wölsendorf.
