Description

Please have a look at the locality - this is not from Ötz-Valley, where garnet was very common. The garnets from Horn-Glacier and from whole Ziller-Valley are very rare and very hard to obtain - this one was discovered in August 1976 by the famous Austrian field-collector Rudolf Planitzer (who also discovered the largest amethyste-cleft in entire Alps at Mörchner Mt.). The 35mm tall crystal is well shaped, exposed, free-standing and complete all around. Should be high valued for this rare locality.
