Description

If you would ask me for 3 famous classic localities from Norway I would answer with: Kongsberg, Harnagervidda and Dalen-Kjorholt. This locality is famous for Calcite - most of all for „Amber“-Calcite. This here is not an „Amber“-Calcite, but a really out-standing combination of two generations of Calcite. The first one is water-clear, optical and formed like a sun - in the center you can see an exposed free-standing scalenohedral crystal. Both generations are lustrous - the „sun“ is colorless and water-clear, the scalenohedron in the center is dark and with tones of yellow - both resting on a thin brown-red matrix. The assemble looks like the head of a bird with the matrix as neck. Next to the rare locality it is the figural assemble, why I offer it to you.
