Description

Fluorite from Ireland is very rare and hard to obtain. For decades or even for centuries there was not even one relevant discovery in entire Ireland - until a first discovery at Larkins Quarry a few years ago. This is material from a new spectacular discovery - and it is really fantastic! The color is light blue with dark violet zoning along the edges. But the most amazing indicator is the octahedral phantom on the center. This octahedron is dark violet and one face was covered with a dark green layer. The backside was on the rock and the second photo shows the backside - at this image the silhouette of the octahedron is well visible! I cannot rank this specimen high enough, really fantastic for Ireland, should be high valued for the great visual impact either for rarity!
