Fluorite

Floater

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Gletschhorn, Furka Pass, Urseren, Uri, Switzerland
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.7 × 2.4 × 2.1 cm
Description

Discovered in a small cleft at the North Face of Gletschhorn mountain in September 2009. The specimen is developed as floater and shows a very uncommon elongated habit - a modified octahedron. The faces are strong etched but the crystal still shows the octahedral habit very well. One more uncommon indicator is the color zoning - top and bottom are nearly colorless while the middle shows an intense pink area. Should be high valued for rare locality, uncommon habit and this carzy zoning.
